Roger Bolton (Havebury Tenants Forum Chair & Tenant Board Director)
Having lived in Haverhill for near on 38 years, there is not much Roger doesn’t know about the local area. Roger is a tenant on the Clements Estate and is married with two children. Roger joined the Forum in June 2003 and now sits as Chair. He also sits on the Regional RSL Group and the Corporate Complaints Committee. Roger’s primary motivation for joining the Forum was to enable him to play a more active role in the community and to assist his fellow tenants and residents. His role as Tenant’s Forum Chair, in conjunction with his involvement in the newly established Clements Estate Residents Group, allows Roger to give something back to the community. Joining the Forum has also offered Roger an opportunity to develop his skills through the training workshops he has undertaken.

Sandra Norris (Havebury Tenants Forum Vice-Chair)
Sandra was born in the East End of London but has lived in Haverhill for over 5 years now. Having served for four years as a nurse in the Women's Royal Air Force, Sandra moved to the area with her daughter and granddaughters. Sandra is a recent addition to the Forum having joined in September 2005. Following her retirement, she felt she had the time and desire to contribute on the Forum. She is fully committed to ensuring the Forum works alongside Havebury to give the best possible service to tenants. Sandra sees the Tenants Forum as an opportunity to broaden her knowledge of housing and procedures within Havebury in order to fully contribute in helping her fellow tenants enjoy an improved quality of life. Sandra is also a member of the Corporate Complaints Panel and has applied recently for membership of the Regional RSL Consultative Group.

Peter Codd
From Lincoln originally, Peter was in the army for 9 years. It was during this time that he met and later married a Bury girl which brought him to the local area. He has lived here ever since, a tenant on the Priors for 33 years. Although Peter is sadly now a widower, he has 2 children and 9 grandchildren to keep on the go most of the time! As a longstanding Forum member, having joined over 11 years ago, Peter sees his role as vital in representing fellow tenants and giving them a voice.

Phillip French
As a born and bred Suffolk man, 62 year old Phillip is married to Agnes who is also a forum member. They have four children all of whom have now flown the nest. Phillip also sits on a number of different boards and panels and is an elected member of Suffolk County Council & Haverhill Town Council. A comparatively new addition to the Forum, joining in late 2003, Phillip feels the Forum’s contribution will help to ensure Havebury keep the promises made prior to transfer. |

Garry Guest
Garry moved to Bury St Edmunds in 1999 and in June 2003 joined the Tenants’ Forum. Garry joined the Tenants’ Forum to assist Havebury’s tenants and the community to make a positive difference for all. |

Muriel Healey (Havebury Housing Partnership Life President)
Muriel moved to Haverhill in 1971 and worked at Haverhill Sports Centre before joining Marchant Manufacturing. She retired in 1984. Between 1978 and 2001, Muriel was a volunteer with the Haverhill division of the St John’s Ambulance and has taught English and Maths to people with learning difficulties. She has 2 daughters and 4 grandsons. Muriel joined the Tenants’ Forum in 1993 and is a founder member. As a veteran of the Forum, Muriel has enjoyed the challenge of learning ways to help her fellow tenants. She says she has benefited from attending the training workshops and conferences as part of her role. Muriel’s extensive knowledge of Tenant involvement is highly regarded.

Mary Lawrence
The Howard Estate is where Mary lives with her family and she works in a local school and as a passenger assistant for the disabled. Mary is an active member of her local community and is secretary to the HEART residents association and on the PTA at County Upper School. Mary has been with the Forum since 2001 and enjoys being part of a team and learning about Havebury and how to benefit tenants.

Ann McGowan (Tenant Board Director)
Ann has had ties in the Bury St Edmunds area for nearly 25 years but moved here permanently in June 2003. She has three children and five grandchildren. Now retired from the Civil Service, she had a varied career working firstly as a benefits officer, and then as Manager of a direct access hostel for homeless women. At the time of her retirement, she was Assistant Director of Finance for the Resettlement Agency, again dealing with the problems of homelessness. Ann believes the Forum can help Havebury to keep their promise to be the best social landlord possible by representing the views of the tenants and assisting in the development of ideas to improve the quality of life for all tenants. Ann is a member of the Performance Review Panel and the Board.

Charles Riggall (Tenant Board Director)
Charles has lived in the local area for many years. He has been a member of the Forum for a year now and hopes to assist in removing the stigma still attached council and housing association houses and estates as well as ensuring rents are kept low and houses are maintained to a decent standard. |

Don Seago
Don moved from London and has been a tenant of St Edmundsbury since 1974. He currently lives on the Parkway Estate in Haverhill. Don was a meat process worker but is now retired. He has two children, both girls. Don takes a keen interest in local issues and supports senior citizens. Don enjoys sport and reading as his hobbies.

Malcolm Searle (Tenant Board Director)
Having lived in local tied accommodation for 19 years with his wife and 2 children, Malcolm knows the necessity of affordable social housing with rights to good maintenance and a landlord who is accountable. With the move to a Council house in 1996, Malcolm became involved with the Tenants Forum just prior to transfer in 2002. By joining the Equality & Diversity Group, Community Investment Focus Group and Performance Panel, Malcolm has also brought to the fore core issues affecting rural tenants. He is also the Secretary for the local Rural Agricultural & Allied Workers Trade Group and the Transport and General Workers’ Unions. Being a member of the Forum has enabled Malcolm to be involved with and influence the decisions Havebury makes.

Alan Turner
Originally from Bishops Stortford, Alan has lived in the area since 1979, first in Haverhill and then in Bury St Edmunds. Alan has been a member of the Forum since 2001. Alan in on the Forum to ensure tenants’ have a voice in how Havebury is run and wants to encourage young people to be more involved. |

Joan Wright
Originating from London, Joan moved to Bury St Edmunds in 1964. She has 2 sons and a daughter, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Joan is a founding member of the Forum having joined in 1992 and joined to ensure the tenants were getting the best service possible and that the management decisions made were of benefit to her fellow tenants. She feels the Forum offers a valuable opportunity of making certain Havebury keep the promises they made at transfer. Joan is involved in a number of different initiatives within Havebury including the Equality and Diversity Group, the Editorial Group, the Performance Review Panel as well as Friends of Havebury. She is also Treasurer of the Westbury Resident Association.

Brian Yallop
Brian lives in Bury St Edmunds and has three grown up children. He has been on the Tenants’ Forum since 2004 and joined so that he could be a voice for the Tenants to help improve the services they receive. |
